WIW opinions needed
04 5.3 liter vortec out of a yukon. He has motor trans wiring and ecu he wants 2000 for all. The motor suppose to only have 40,000 on it. Thanks for your opinion

motor=electric.
engine=gasoline. 2000 is a normal price for just about any engine/tranny with 30-40K on the clock... across the board. Maybe 2500 because it has the tranny. Maybe 2700 because the harness is intact. On the other hand, you might find a wrecked truck for 1K at auction. I have bought and sold engines before, and shipped and received them. It all boils down to "what's it worth TO YOU"

Sounds high to me. I paid $1800 for my 6.0/4L80E/NP246 ( approx 60k miles ) over 2 years ago. Last summer I bought a complete 6.0L (35k miles) minus harness/pcm for $500 and a 4l60E for $400. Add another 2-250 for a harness and pcm and it's still half of what he wants. I think you can do better, especially for a 5.3L and in this economy. Generally if you can buy the parts seperatley, it will be much cheaper.

an internal combustion engine can be called a motor... motor car, motor cade, motor sports, but, an electric motor is not an engine. |

You might check one of the online links like this
http://www.usedpartscentral.com/search_georgia.htm fill in the proper spaces and wrecking yards in and out of your area will email you quotes on the engine, trans and the rest of it. I'd throw it out there and see what I get for quotes. That will tell you what kind of deal he is offering and what amount of cash green $100.00 bills you need to wave in front of him to get the deal you feel is fair. Along with the make model and what it is that you are buying plus the mileage on it location often has quite a bit to do with the prices of used parts. |
