Hood hinges - how to tell if they are GM or repop
I picked up a set of hood hinges today - I was told they are NOS - the have the part number painted onto the side - 3911705LH 3911706RH
The have a hang tag on the but the label is so faded you can not read it - it did strike me as a part tag for GM Any way I can tell for sure which these are?

I don't know how to tell. If a person had an original pair you should be able to compare them... I've never seen a pair of aftermarket ones. LockDoc

Re: Hood hinges - how to tell if they are GM or repop
Well I have rebuilt many sets or original Truck hood hinges over the last 5 years, and I have seen 2 different kinds of rivet facings. Most have the X or the plus sign, pressed into the top of the rivet, and flared, and the other has the X pressed on the outside edges of the rivet, and flared. I have never seen any with the cast numbers on the hinges, like Chevelle SS hinges were done. As long as they are tight and straight, I would use them, since so many core hinges i get are worn slam out.
