longbed floor to short
This is for yellow GT and anyone else who might be interested. You need to remove 12'' from the front and 8'' from the rear. After the sides are removed I measured 13 3/8'' and 25 3/8 from the leading front edge.I then scribbed a line all the way across at these measurements with a straight edge.I then used 2'' masking tape to mark the lines and cut out this 12'' section. The front cut goes all the way through but the back cut is centered over the lip of a cross support so you need to be careful and cut the floor only and not the support.Measure 15'' and 23'' in from the rear edge and repeat the process. It is easier to make the cuts and weld back up bolted on the frame on the frame.Total lenght of the floor sections when clamped off and ready to weld should be 78 1/4''.I used a skilsaw with a metal cutting blade and had no problems. When done this way your weld is on the lip of the cross support and makes it stronger.Hope this helps .If I can be of futher assistance just let me know.
