Project Zumo... Drag truck

Hey guys, as some of yall prolly remember I bought a 67 project truck a while back & decided to make it my drag truck

Specs: 500 Caddi engine / TH-400, 12 bolt (for now), Z'd 4-1/2" front, shaved firewall, custom tube cross members & stiffeners, to be twin tubo'd

So here are some pics to start this thread out right (starting from when i got it)

Re: Project Zumo... Drag truck

Now, were are current

The other day I popped it off, so I know it will run
And today I swapped out the intake from FI, to carbed

Started with cleaning up the nasty old intake I got for free (sorry no before pics of when it was rusty)
And then I cleaned up the ports (forgot to get after pics lol)
Then I modded the carb area & smoothed the fire out of it

I was thinking the same thing on the oil change. Looks like someone only added oil. I had an S10 once that only had pensoil in it. 188k miles, but take the valve cover off and you had to dig to find rockers. Good luck getting that beast running. Subscribed

I'm in love and subscribed. It's a 67 and we all know 67's are the sleekest meanest looking machines in the Chevy lineup.

What are the plans for the motor? Just try to clean it out and then run it?

Re: Project Zumo... Drag truck

Too bad that front isnt 67

Well I think we are gonna pull it down & do a freshen up on it, dont trust all the crap that could be in it

Gonna start it out with 2 GM-8 turbos off of 6.5TDs
6.5s turn roughly 4k max & the single stock turbo puts out about 20 to 22 psi max boost, so 2 of those on a 8.2 liter cad twisted to no more than 4k to begin with should build a max boost of possibly 12 to 15 psi
Stock 500 puts out about 300 hp / 400 tq, so with that boost it should be around 600 hp / 700 tq all done by 4k

Now thats all guesses, but it seems that isnt unreasonable

Turbo is a turbo, it just has to be for the right RMP range & cubic inches

Re: Project Zumo... Drag truck

Yeah it surprised us as to how loud it was only being like 8:1 compression & it revs as good as some of my SBCs !!!

I think that cleaning up & modding that intake did a lot to be honest

Re: Project Zumo... Drag truck

Well I have some bad news, after putting out a post on a caddi board dad found that propper end play when fresh on one of these should be from .002 to .0012

So we are hoping that the crank & or block isnt toast, more to come when we pull the engine (that will be when we get it in the shop)

Very cool! I love out the box engine ideas! I have a GMC 401 Magnum V6 that I would love to turbocharge.

So your end play isn't in spec?
