Newb Mistake...Took Plug Wires Off Without Marking...Help Please!
So I got all excited last night putting my new valve covers on and took the plug wires off the drivers side of the engine with out marking them first. I have an MSD StreetFire Distributor and for the life of me can't figure out which post is #1. Any help would be awesome.
Thanks. |

Quote:
Start just to the right of center should be #1 then it goes clock wise from there 1 8 4 3 6 5 7 2 and as for the engine evens on the pass side starting with #2 and odds on the drivers side starting with #1.

Take off your dist. cap and pull the # 1 plug and get it up with compression. Mark your dist. and put the cap back on. Then put # 1 where the mark is and continue clockwise 8436572. Then that should be it.

Is the other side still attached ? You should be able to follow the firing order around the cap, the rotor turns clockwise, so if the wire is still attached to #2, the next wire will be #1 going clockwise.

Thanks so much you guys. I got it figured out with your help. I was thinking the wires needed to be installed counter-clockwise in order to account for the direction the rotor was spinning...doesn't make any sense?...I agree...I over thought it. I gotta remember KISS. I used the known goods and went from there. She fired right up. Cheers! Last edited by MyMach5; 02-11-2009 at 11:31 PM. Reason: Needed to add more |
