Got ANOTHER truck...

Driving a round with no intention of buying a truck I come across a 1980 Cheyenne 1/2 ton, long bed 4x4. Body has some surface rust but is mostly straight. Interior needs work. Has a I6 / sm465 / NP205 combo. Supposedly the original owner "did some work" on the motor. Registration in the glove box says 1993. Paid less than $500, so I am happy. Can't decide if I want to fix and drive or part out. Kind of like the idea of the I6 4x4. Time will tell

So I don't get any complaints here are some pics...

Re: Got ANOTHER truck...

Nice buy. It isn't in half bad shape. Run it with the 6 cyl and see how you like it, you can always stuff an 8 in later.

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose.

Re: Got ANOTHER truck...

Thanks guys,

Talked to the PO today... Tells me he has a set of four steel wheels (he thinks they are 15x8) with chrome rings and caps for the truck. Come mounted with some wore out 33" tires. Sound worth it for $100???

Re: Got ANOTHER truck...

That year truck in that type of condition here in Connecticut would almost be considered excellent condition. Great find!

Re: Got ANOTHER truck...

I say good deal. You got the np205 and the fourspeed which is a sweet combo. The six is also a fun motor to play around with. Its in better shape then my 77 I would get her on the road and if you decied you don't like well then sell it for a profit!

Re: Got ANOTHER truck...

Great score! I'd have bought it for sure! Keep that one and drive it! Looks like a really nice straight truck that needs just a little bit of tlc to be turned into something REALLY nice! Why can't I ever find deals like that!!!!???? ...Joe

Re: Got ANOTHER truck...

Well the great deal has gone south after going to DMV... $850 in back registration taxes!!! Not sure if its worth it to pay the taxes to get it on the road or part it out???? I was really hoping the PO had non-oped it, or it had dropped out of the system (last registered a round 1993). Oh well, I will have to think about this one.

Re: Got ANOTHER truck...

tough choice with that factor. Round here it would be worth it because of how rust free it is. But out there they seem to be a dime a dozen.
