Question Edelbrock Carb pros. Running Rich how.....???

I have a Edelbrock 750. My blazers running really rich. Can someone walk me through adjustment on this carb? What way to turn screws to lean it out a bit? I may need to jet it down?

It shouldn't be to much carb. I'm running 20over, Trickflow 202 aluminum heads torqer II intake, Full roller set-up. but my cam ain't very big. So I may need to jet down?

I had to go down two steps on my 1406 when I bought it. They sell a kit for each carb for about $35.

Which model 750 do you have 1407or 1411 ? The easiest thing to do is change the metering rods , then a combo of rods and jets. My manuel covers the 1406, 1407,1410 .

My 1407 ran "fat" right out of the box. the first things to check, would be fuel pressure(5 1/2 max), & the float levels. I found1 float to be set too high. I then got a tuning kit, & leaned the idle/cruise mode a couple steps with a rod & jet change(left the power mode where it was). the 1411(elect choke version) should be pretty close on jetting out of the box. You can get into the charts on the Edelbrock site to help with tuning. good luck, crazyL

To lean it down 4% in both power and cruise mode use(073x052) rods.

www.edelbrock.com

If you will go to the website, Edelbrock has a technical section that offers a chart showing the relationship of jets, rods, etc., to richen or lean out your mixture. There is all sorts of tuning help, and you can download the owner/user manual in PDF format to print and keep for your very own use!

I am running a 107 jet, & a 65/ 37 needle on the primaries on my 1407. The pump shooter has also been dropped a size, as the converter is loose enough that it didnt need a big shot. Secondairy jetting is "box stock", as are the stepup springs for the primary needles. This is on a 383 ,with edelbrock rpm heads/intake, & a comp cams XE 268. i would check the float settings as a 1 st step tho.......those carbs get bounced aroud in shippping, & knock em out of whack. Good luck, crazyL

When is it rich? all the time?, idle? If its just rich on idle all youll have to do is adust the idle mixture screws, if its rich during cruise or under load, youll have to do a rod or jet or both change.

it could just need the springs changed...if you have too stiff of springs...the vacuum might not hold the rods down, causing flooding..I would go to the next lightest spring first.

So do them rods come in a kit? Can I order from AutoZone or screw that and order from Summit?

Can I go to a Mechanic shop and get some sort of gauge put on my truck to see exactly how rich I'm running?

Summit or Jeg's has them for about 46 bucks for the Calibration kit for the 1407 .
You can also order a set of rod's or a pr of jet's seperately .
The kit's include stepup spring's,Rods and jets .
You might want to check www.edelbrock.com and read what they have to say about carb tuning ,I'm having trouble getting to the site today .Also Smitty is their Carb Tech at 800 739 3737 .I think this # is still good haven't called him in awhile .
