i'm taking my 1980 c3500 dump truck and gonna convert it to a 4wd. is there any major issues i'm gonna run into other than drilling holes for the spring shackles. i got truck frames for the rest of the donarparts i need and measurments. also what would be best tranny to put in, igot a th350 with 205 transfer, but also got a 700r4, only intereted in that for the overdrive when driving around empty. also might be getting a 4 speed. with 4.11gears i'm really liking the OD for milage and would like to go over 50 mph. any inputwould be helpful.

I would really recomend just finding a 1 ton 4x4 frame and doing a body swap that is the simplest way to go even if you also swap the drivetrain over too. I have done this a few times and it is very simple.

There's a 1 ton 4x4 for sale in eastern MI. Look at Detroit CL. Needs trans and frt driveshaft. Not mine.
