Did 6.2 diesel use hydroboost? same as small block?

I'm trying to find a hydroboost bracket for a sbc but Im not having much luck finding anything in town here. Someone told me the diesel trucks used hydroboost and the brackets are the same as a small block? Any input ?

Isn't hydroboost the system where the brakes and steering are "hooked" together? If so, then yes. My K10 has it.

Yes, and so did many 1 tons and 2 tons.
I'm assuming you are talking about the firewall bracket, right? Because you would use the SB pump on a SB. Yes the diesel and 1 ton firewall set ups are are the same as SB. Your best bet is to find a complete unit so as to get the right rod set up and the hoses for the PS, which get expensive to have made.

I'm not sure the 2 ton hoses work although the booster and rod set up are probably the same. I'm pretty sure the one on my 87 1/2 ton diesel will directly interchange with my 87 C65, but the hoses are different length.

The boosters are the same between a gasser and diesel, but the pumps and brackets are different between the two.

I yanked the original 454 and replaced it with a 350 so I need a new bracket for the small block pump. GM says there is only one style bracket for a sbc hydro boost p.s. pump, I just wasnt sure if the diesel brackets would work on a sbc.

No, the brackets won't swap 6.2 to SBC to BBC. And the pumps are usually different (orientation of the return line, pulley, etc.). But there is noting unique about the hydroboost pump, so whichever SBC bracket and pump would normally fit your engine would be fine.

Thanks for your help D13, I'm not understanding your explanation though. You say the pumps are different as far as return line... but a factory sbc p.s. bracket from my year truck should fit around the hydroboost pump?
I guess that means I have the wrong pump then? I have a bracket from a 79 sbc and it doesnt fit around the new hydoboost pump that I bought. I'm

Re: Did 6.2 diesel use hydroboost? same as small block?

Not dumb at all, GM built dozens of PS pump combos with different brackets and reservoirs, often just beacuse they could. Does your pump have 2 return pipes? Because the pump 'guts' are all the same, so I'm assuming the problem you are having is in the fit of the brackets around the reservoir? And the difference in reservoirs is usually the return lines, occasionally the 'clocking' of the pump in the reservoir.

Ah, I see by an auto store parts list that you probably have the dual return line...

On my 99 the pump feeds 1 circuit, and hydroboost or not doesn't matter. Single return line. Diesels are almost always hydroboost, my 87 uses a single return line plus a big (like 1") line to a remote reservoir. My 87 gasser is a tall deck BB with the remote tank so no love there.

Can you describe what part of the bracketry doesn't fit? If the second return line interferes would a minor notch in the bracket fix it?

Only place I have ever seen SBC hydroboost is on 350 powered dually or C50. So that would be where I would J-yard pick.

Other option would be to use the single return housing and T the return hoses in front of it. The issue would be sluggish response if braking and turning hard simultaneously.
