gear ratio difference
what is the largest difference in gear ratios from front to rear that can be used without blowing u joints thanks

couple of hundredths ( 4.10- 4.11) unless you adjust tire size one each axle like a tractor....

Yeah,I`ve never seen more than 1/100th off from factory:4.09 front/4.10 rear is common.and,it`s more than u-joints you need to worry about.Anything can break in the middle.

A friend of mines Dakota has 4.10 & 4.11's I believe, and there is a hugh warning not to drive on hard surfaces (paved) in 4WD. If you've got them matched, it won't be an issue.

I wouldn't run on hard pavement locked in 4 wheel drive, no matter how perfect the gear match might be. It is asking for trouble.
