2500 rpm's at 65 mph??
2500 rpm's at 65 mph, does that sound right i took my 68 for its first drive on the interstate and thats what i got, everything eles was great and the truck drove great.
i have a 327 with a saginaw 4 speed, and a 4.11 rear end. what is a good set of gears to get the rpms down on the highway.

Sounds about right, but you didn't specify a tire height.

Re: 2500 rpm's at 65 mph??
2500 @ 60 MPH is more like a 3.07 gear.
Either your tach, your speedo, or what you think is in the diff.... one of those 3 is wrong. |

Re: 2500 rpm's at 65 mph??
Sounds just a tad low to me.
Both my trucks have 4.11 gears & they both run right around 3200 at 65. My Chevy has about 27" tires, & the speedometer has been corrected for tire size; & the GMC has about 31" tires. I would have gotten better measurements, but it's raining.
