Talking Stainless Tailgate Support Link (s)

Sorry this might could/should go in the wanted section... Buuuut I guess I don't want to buy a set now, I just want to know if they make em. Does anyone know of anybody who makes/sells Stainless Tailgate Support Links and or tailgate trunions? Seems to me this is one place on our trucks that can/will rust very quickly even after new paint!

I dont think anyone makes any. You could go to your local machinist and they could make you the pieces or tell you who could.

keep them greased and they should hold up. Although, I have seen them rust away till the gate falls off. Was just looking at one the other day like that.

I plan on doing this to my truck:

Have you considered having them powder coated?

why in the world would you want cables in there instead of the stock stay lines?

Re: Stainless Tailgate Support Link (s)

I just hate how lame and weak they are (we replace a LOT of them at work) and they end up sticking out of the tailgate when it's closed half the time.... just a junk piece IMO.

Re: Stainless Tailgate Support Link (s)

I wouldn't mind the cable thing, as I agree it's kindof trick and a bit cleaner, and I wouldn't mind the idea of replacing cables every few years... The part that is scaring me away from that is the need to grind on the tailgate...
That's why it'd be nice to finde some stainless ones. Seems to me it'd be the best way to go (unfortunately, certainly the priciest as well.)
