stereo sit.

ok among a new radiator this summer, and new springs all around, i'm looking at my stereo, which is your typical cd deck and kind of wishing that someone hadn't cut out the original fit, so that i could've gotten a stock looking stereo with a hidden disc changer, buuuuuttt.
that's my situation, anybody know of a good cd deck that will fit and not seem so out of place in my 70?

I have a Kenwood dual shaft AM/FM cassette receiver, model KRC-2007. As for CD player, you can either install a disk player under the seat or as many are doing now, just run an iPod or satellite receiver (SiriusXM) with a RF signal to your radio.
I have not seen any CD players with dual shafts, that is why most dash panels are cut. There is always the glove box installation, or under the dash installation.

Re: stereo sit.

oh, i neglected to mention before that the interior, seats and cab, are all hugger orange. so i don't think that i want the typical blue backlit type of deck. an orange backlight? red even might work. black/white might look ok too. i would love to see some pics of others decks they've installed in a 67-72. anyone????
and thanks for all replies, they're appreciated.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: stereo sit.

Andy, where did you put your fuel tank?

Looks like you have spent a lot of time and labor on your truck. Very well done.

Re: stereo sit.

Thanks,
I have been working on this since 1986. I moved the tank to the bed since it's a LWB. It sits in the front of the bed, it's something I need to redo but just haven't taken the time to do. I get started on other mods and never seem to get to it.
I want to move it under the bed in the rear but I haven't seen a system yet that I want to use.

Re: stereo sit.

The Pioneer P800 and 880PRS are the absolute perfect unit.

P800 (new)

DEH-880PRS (last year's model...)

Re: stereo sit.

No - The only ones you can get for uncut dash are the Retrosound ( I have one of them) and Custom Autosound. Both are really inferior units, but you don't have to cut. It better be important to you not to cut. I'm on my second Retrosound unit and am still having problems.

Dan,

Thanks, I have a Kenwood receiver with the dual shafts that will fit without cutting my dash.

I haven't installed it, I bought it years ago and it is no longer produced.

I need to change my exhaust, cause with my current setup, you can almost hear yourself thinking...... almost

Re: stereo sit.

That Kenwod unit might be able tp provide a decent output signal to an amplifier. It will probably be on the low end of the voltage scale, but it should be able to feed an amp or two with a signal. All this is provided the unit has RCA outputs.

EDIT: sorry, I hadn't gotten it into my head that you DIDN'T have a cut dash. My daddy never dun learned me ta' read good.

Re: stereo sit.

nice responses, i'm still kind of torn up. i guess i should just go shopping one day and see what catches my eye. i like the idea of moving the tank from behind the seat. i'm running some door speakers, and a pair of 8 in truck riders (kenwood if i'm not mistaken.) that will make it pretty loud, but a lil louder wouldn't be bad, (don't tell my wife)

Re: stereo sit.

"Quality over Quantity" is phrase best applied to car audio. Possibly more than anything else.

It won't matter how loud it is if it sounds like garbage. When people ask me how loud my system gets (dB) I usually tell them one of three things:

1. Who cares?
2. Its a sound quality system, bot a dB demon...
3. It gets loud enough...

I did eventually get some numbers on it in order to please these people, but to this day, those are my usual responses...
