Cheyenne Super door panels

I scored some Cheyenne Super door panels at a local parts store in Phoenix. After cleaning them up, I decide to paint them with SEMS vinyl spray paint, saddle color. The original woodgrain inserts are faded and worn so I decided to order inserts from LMC. Now I am not sure if I should use the original or new inserts. Any thoughts?

I think the new one looks pretty nice with the new paint....

The bottom one came from LMC? It looks nice. Why wouldn't you want to use them? If you know (and we both do) that the originals are faded, then we both know that the new ones are going to stand out.

One option that may work for some is to get some Dinoc vinyl and re-cover the originals. Dinoc is from 3M and is what the Gen'l used to do the woodgrain on vehicles in the late 60's and into the 70's.

So you use your trailer for a workbench/paint table too! looks good with the new, but how does it go with the rest of the interior?

Re: Cheyenne Super door panels

yeah, the last one is the LMC insert. I guess I was looking to see how many purest there are. I wasn't sure if I wanted to stay w/original or not. I agree that the bottom photo looks good, I just didn’t know if looks are worth more than originality. Thanks for you opinions

I have the dash pad the same color, the seats are done in a vinyl saddle color also. I will post pick when I am done with the door panel install, thanks for your opinion.

Re: Cheyenne Super door panels

Spray a couple coats of sealer on woodgrain inserts, sand between coats, you will be surprised how it will bring out the color. Of course you will have to do a little touchup on woodgrain after first coat of sealer, but the original inserts look great restored
