she's gone...

well i sold my 72 today. i sold it to a friend of my wife. they are a low income couple that needed a second vehicle. so i sold it to them for $300 and a nice bed in trade. i could have sold it to someone else, but they needed a second vehicle badly. so i think that i did a good deed by knocking the price down $1200 for them. what do you guys think?? its kinda hard seein her drive off, but its for the best i think

Re: she's gone...

I think you did the right thing. If you can afford to sell it for less than it's worth to help someone out, I think that's great! Your good deed will come back around to you when the time is right.

I agree. If you were able to help some close friends, then you did the right thing. Esp now that times are getting tougher.

That was a nice thing to do. Would be a bummer to see it come up on craigs list for 1200 bucks though.

Re: she's gone...

It was a great gesture...

One thing I would have added is that if they decided they didn't want it or wanted to sell it at some later date, to give you first dibbs...

I did that once for my B.I.L. when he wrecked his S10 and needed a truck right away. I sold him mine for $1500 and told him if he didn't want it I'd buy it back. Six months later, I got it back. He said all his profits were eaten up in gas -it drank too much.

Re: she's gone...

well her friend is in the navy and her friend's fiance isn't. she's getting a second job and her fiance is working at a burgerking. and with only one car between the two of them they kinda needed it. and i respect her fiance cause at least he went out and got a job at a fast food joint and is at least bringing in some sort of income. my wife has another friend that's married, that's in the navy, and her friend's husband is a lazy lay about who refuses to get a job. so i was more willing to help out her other friend. when i see some one in need i know how bad it sucks and i'm also one who's willing to lend a helping hand. not to sound conceded or anything, but i do consider myself to be one of those nice type of guys. even when i'm at the auto hobby on base i always end up helping someone out, even if i don't know them. i guess that's how i met one of my buddies. i helped him stuff an engine and trans into his 81 berlinetta camaro cause his buddy couldn't make it.

Re: she's gone...

oh and i just remembered, this is how i kinda came across my 72. i had a 93 probe se and my buddy's car just crapped out on him, friggen pos daewoo. so i found the truck on CL and told my buddy that i was willing to sell him the probe, 800 with out the stereo, 1200 with the stereo. it had a really nice sound system in it. anyway we got to talking and i ended up selling him the probe for about 1000, to include the full stereo. a really nice deck, nice amp and nice pair of 10" subs. when i had it posted on CL, i was asking $1000 with out the system, $1400 with the system. so i sold a really nice car to my buddy for less than i was asking cause he needed it and i had gotten my 72. and he still has the car today. and it even had/has a nice set of wheels that had brand new tires to boot!
