Saturday pics (3-28) Yellow...
It's done nothing but rain, and I've really not been anywhere! So I don't have a lot to offer this week except for a couple pics of some Yellow...
Aired out, before the bed or front clip was water sanded and buffed. Aired up a bit, after the bed and front clip have been water sanded and buffed. This one's kinda fuzzy... Those of you that keep up with my Saturday pics have seen peeks of this thing here and there amongst the past several months worth of photos. It's came a long way and I know Brian is proud of it. I'm sure it won't be long and I'll be sharing some photos of a completed pickup with you guys! (Hopefully he won't mind me sharing these with everyone!) On an unrelated tangent....how'd ya like to get a rearview mirror full of this thing??? Thanks guys!! |

Nice! Like the colors. I'm doing my '67 lwb pale yellow with white pearl top and bottom below the mouldings.
What did you use for paint on the radaitor saddle, wheel wells and under hood? Like the hi gloss look. CrashBob

^ Lucky? Well maybe.Talented Absolutely!
I know Asa and brian are good friends and Asa may have more pics than Brian. IIRC Brian has done most of the work on that truck in the last few months with only a little help from the "Worthless" crew. Those guys make short work of stuff(mostly because of experience). There are probably a few more "build" shots of it but those guys don't give Asa much time to shoot between tasks.

Re: Saturday pics (3-28) Yellow...
We shouldn't look at it as another cut down longbed....We should look at it as another one saved from the crusher, which is where it would have ended up if he hadn't saved it. It's a factory A/C Cheyenne super. The engine and transmission were long gone but he bought the truck for less then we figured the 5 lug running gear and the stock black seatbelts were worth. If the truck had sat there a few more months I'm sure it would have been scrapped when metal prices spiked last summer.(The previous owner would probably have made more $ that way ).
We've been dragging our feet about putting together a build thread for this project (still haven't done it) but sooner or later we'll get to it. Brian had first planned to cut down the frame and the bed using Rockrln's post as a reference. He addressed the rusty corners and rockers first as well as repairing the doors and front fenders. The frame was cut down and welded back up as well as the brake lines and wiring. Before he got the nerve up to start cutting down the long bed we were able to find an entire swb pickup for about what we thought the bed was worth. The swb truck donated it's engine and transmission and the rest was parted out amongst a Worthless bunch of scavengers. Sure, One longbed was lost to this build. But, no less then a half dozen other projects benefited from the leftover parts from this build. I'd cut up a longbed every chance I got if I knew it would keep other trucks out on the road. My hat goes off to a man that had NEVER done any bodywork or paint, and still took on a project like this! I read recently that over 90% of first time restoration attempts that start with a complete disassembly of a vehicle, never get put back together by the person that started the project. I've got no idea where that statistic came from...but I believe it. This will NOT be one of those projects. Keep your eyes open cruise in seaon is coming!! |
