Steering Wheel Nut
When I got my truck ('71), it the top 2 or 3 threads was stripped off of the steering shaft and the nut was stripped completely.
I had a spare cab, so I went to look at the shaft on it and it was stripped too. Is this a commin problem on these? Is there an easier fix than replacing the shaft? I'm going over to my in-laws tonight. He has an old '72 in the woods. I'm going to chack to see what kind of shape the shaft is in on it. thanks, Brent |

I think you`ve hit a bad streak.I`ve never seen one stripped.

my truck has a loose nut holding the wheel. I am still trying to figure out how to fix it.

My 71 had the same problem when I recently changed the steering wheel. Nut was fine but the steering shaft had just enough threads left to tighten it down. My truck didn't have the original steering wheel so I'm guessing they get stripped when someone doesn't use a puller to get the wheel off.
