Re: Daverods project 66

Thanks Zack Your a good guy. If there's anything I can do for you name it. If you ever get up here you have a place to stay. Pray to the shipping gods. Going to check on a radiatior support tomorrow. The more I think about it the more I want to build one.

Re: Daverods project 66

Your welcome man. We all gotta stick together on these ol trucks. I think building a support would be very easy. I was looking at mine and it looks so simple to do. Build one and put a bunch of louvers on the inside so they can be seen when the hood is up would look cool. Talk to ya more in a day or so.
Zack

I will stop by and pick you up Strodder if i ever get up that way, LOL.

Re: Daverods project 66

Looks real decent, just some surface rust and dents. Something else to spend your money on.

Re: Daverods project 66

I could'nt help myself. I know a few years down the road I would saying Damn I should have bought that bed. I'll only be out 100 if I can sell the frame. Heck I can scrap it for 50. Can't just run down to Brothers and order up a shlong bed. Already had a call on the frame.

Re: Daverods project 66

weld all youre scrapmetal too it before taking it to the metalyard that way it saves you a second trip , they prolly make you take the tires off .... at least thats wat they do here .
rubber tires are considered chemical waste like filters oil and larger amounts of plastics in general or at least something that needs to be turned in seperately at a cost

I wish I was close. I could really use that frame for the repairs I need to do to my short bed frame.
Dang!

I have one just like Dave's, and I think I'm closer. It was a long bed C-20. All there but the 3rd member.

Re: Daverods project 66

Funny thing is is that it was all painted. I fixed both fenders, so they were painted. The bed was crushed on on side and it was painted. I fixed the tailgate with parts from my orange 66. On the other side of the bed I fixed the stake pockets so it was mostly painted. The drivers door and both rockers were also painted. The hood and passanger door were the only thing I did'nt touch. I was getting to the door it still needed alittle work. I'm gettin good at fakin it. On my 52 I painted two fenders and part of the cab you cant even tell the difference. brown, black, gray, color and little overspray of white. Rub till done.

Re: Daverods project 66

Checked on a price to get my grill chromed. 600 I about $hit. Does that seem right I can get a chrome one online for about 300. Think I'll just keep the painted one for now, it's kinda rusty and has that used look. Started to put the 64 back together. Got my radiatior put in. Had to make some different brackets because its shorter than the old one. Messed around with one of my fenders, might be able to bang it back into shape.
