Under Seat Treasure Hunt

Haven't had the red rust bucket very long, and was rooting around under the seat. No build sheet since the seat was recovered at some point, damn! I know it doesn't have a lot of options, but build sheets are nice to have. I found the original seat belts. They came out when the rockers and outer floors were patched. I'll be putting 3 point belts in since this is on it's way to being my daily driver, but it was cool to find the originals. I found a rusty old hunting knife in a mildew covered sheath, a 10 year old Indiana (That's where the rust came from!) license plate and best of all the missing piece to my grille! Who ever broke it when they pulled up on the grille instead of the hood release, had enough sense to save it. It fits right in place and is nothing a little glue won't fix!

What cool or weird things have been found under the seat or elsewhere on your trucks?

Re: Under Seat Treasure Hunt

Not really under but more a part of the seat... while driving mine back from TN to CT my dad and I felt like the seat was a piece of plywood. we even yanked a pillow from the hotel to make it more comfy! Come to find out that there really was a piece of wood shoved under the driver seat- just one of the million hacks i have found

oh yea, i also just found an open end wrench wedged in the fender, must of been in there good!

Re: Under Seat Treasure Hunt

Recently in my blazer I found a mummified rat scull which was pretty nasty. One time my brother found a .22 cal revolver under the seat of a car he got off of one of those little used car lots.

Re: Under Seat Treasure Hunt

not under the seat, but yesterday i just happen to take the seat out and carpet, and looked down between the corner of the cab and the fuel tank, and found both of the missing window handles, one sunvisor, old dealership license plate, a rusted bolt, and a flashlight!

Re: Under Seat Treasure Hunt

While driving my truck home after buying it we found a crack pipe, pliers, and a lot of bullets. We threw out the bullets before we drove it home but found the crack pipe while drive so we used the old pliers to dispose of the crack pipe while using a borrowed dealer plate from work

Re: Under Seat Treasure Hunt

Wow, The worst I found was Highway, under the carpet of an old 69 convertible Camaro, just got the car and all my friends piled in, driving about 50 MPH , hit a bump and the guy in back started screaming...I guess the whole floorboard gave way and he said he could feel the road through the carpet!! AH the good old days.

Re: Under Seat Treasure Hunt

Lol. I just bought my truck and under the seat I found a shiny new haynes manual and a notice from walmart in williamsburg ky warning the previous owner to take his truck home or it would be towed. It was laminated and everything. Apparently you can't display a vehicle thats for sale in their parking lot.

Re: Under Seat Treasure Hunt

I've told this story before, but I bought a cab out of a salvage yard for $50 ... got it back to a friends shop and was cleaning out the area in inside down in the cab corners and found somewhere around 65-70 silver dollars.

Best deal I have made yet on these trucks.

Re: Under Seat Treasure Hunt

Thanks for the replies, very interesting and funny! I also found a copy of the Evanston Indiana Sentinel from 1996, a pair of socks, the usual quart of oil/funnel and a sawed off broom handle "attitude adjuster". Looks like the original jack and the crank handle for it are also behind/under the seat.
