71 3/4 ton rear leaf replacement - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am planning on a shackle flip so I removed the existing rear springs. It was a Minnesota truck and along with a little sagging, they have some substantial rust pitting. Does anyone know if there is a late model GM 3/4 ton that has springs that will work? Mine are the 52" version. I want to keep the 3/4 capacity and I haven't found anyone that makes an "off the shelf" 3/4 ton version.

I am guessing I could get them cheaper in a salvage yard than a custom set and with the shackle flip, seems like I could move the shackle connection rather easily along the frame if I needed a little length or if I needed to shorten.

Any thoughts? Am I over-simplifying?

ORD talks of using longer springs from later model chevys in the tech info at the bottom of their flip page.

I'd call them for some tech info unless you're using another kit or fabbing your own.

Big-Blue,Check local yards.Your TX stuff will be so much nicer.Longer is a great idea.I`d look for some Suburban(73-91) packs or the super flexy 88-98 C/Ks.

Thanks guys. It looks like the '88 and up are 64" long so I guess I would have to move the front attachment forward to center the wheel in the wheel well? I will call ORD Monday. I would love the better ride quality of the longer springs!

Big Blue, I did a swap with a mid 80's 3/4 ton rear leafs and it did move my axle about 2" off center of the wheel well. Can't seem to see if there is any different ride quality.

Most guys that I've seen do a shackle flip use the 56" springs, unless you want more flex, then go with the 64" springs.
