need help please

i am in the midst of putting in my lowering kit when the shop called and said one of the plates were broken on my drivers side rear leaf springs. He said i must have a heavy duty kit on there because i have 8 plates per lear spring (instead of 4). Is this normal on a 76 fleetside? should i try to find an 8 plate leaf spring to replace the broken one on monday and should i just pull both sides out and replace them both with 4 plate leafs? thanks
Justin

Re: need help please

also if the 3 longest leafs aren't broken then the other 5 can be removed, which will lower it about a 1" or 2" more and a softer ride

Re: need help please

if it is one of the 3 long ones that broke though I will need to just replace both sides with 4 plate leafs or find another 8 plate and then remove 5 plates from each? which would make more sense?

Re: need help please

no problem oh it doesn't matter I would go with both of the 4 leafs, because the other 8 leaf pack maybe weaker or stronger, than yours, and might make the chevy lean even more noticeable

Re: need help please

thanks that helps out. So if I have 56's (8 leaf on the back) am I stuck (without modification) with those because the 4 leafs state they are 52's.
