Re: No title
If you have a VIN plate, you can get a title through a title service. The way it works is you "sell" your truck to the title service which is located in a state that doesn't require titles on older vehicles. They then "sell" it back to you with a notarized bill of sale you can take to your DMV and get a title in your state. This usually costs between $150 and $300. It's all perfectly legal and I know lots of people who have done this.
The fact that you don't have a VIN plate makes it harder. I don't know of anyone who sells VIN plates. You might could find one in a junkyard. Taking a VIN plate from one vehicle and putting it on another is most proably illegal everywhere though. This post is to be considered informational only and should not be taken as advice. I don't want to advocate doing anything illegal.

Re: No title
Larry:
In my previous PM, I told you I would provide a VIN tag and matching title, if you wanted to go that route. I have bought and sold many cabs without titles, so it is not uncommon for this to happen. Most of the time, the original VIN tag and title are retained with the chassis, so the donor cab matches the partial VIN on the frame. If you want the VIN tag and matching title, that I offered to give you before, let me know and I will send it to you. I never got a response back from you, so let me know if that is the route you want to go, otherwise, good luck with this matter. Last edited by LILRED66; 04-10-2009 at 08:11 AM. |
