Question wiper blades & wiper arms

Howdy folks.

I have had nothing but issues with wiper blades on my '65 c10 since I bought it.

I've gone to the local parts stores, I've bought reproductions online... zoooom! There go my wiper blades... in the rain.

I've read of NAPA having a replacement arm, with a replacement wiper that will fit, it doesn't look as good, but it has been said to work.

Another fix I read about is that a fellow drilled and tapped a hole in the wiper arm and bolted it all together.

Does anyone have any fixes, sources or part numbers for wiper blades that will fit... or adapters to make it all work?

Thanks,

-W

Re: wiper blades & wiper arms

LMC has the correct ones. I haven't ordered any though.

Re: wiper blades & wiper arms

Hmnn... I bet those wipers are made by the same people who make wipers for American Classic.

Re: wiper blades & wiper arms

I bought some arms and blades from LMC and they work just fine on my 63. The 65 seems to have a flatter glass so you should be just fine with them.

W:

You forgot your old buddy, LILRED66. I have some factory arms and I use a 13" replacement blade, as a refill. Please let me know if I can help you with this issue.

Re: wiper blades & wiper arms

The wiper arms with the blades I had from American Classic. The driver side one likes to fly off in sleet, snow and rain.

I have some black parts store refills on there now, but they are as useless as every other one I've put on there.

Unhappy Re: wiper blades & wiper arms

These are some photos of the end of the wiper arm that is on my truck:

wiper arm end

So... any idea if that is the right size on the end? Is it even a '65 wiper arm?

For all I know it has been changed, like everything else on this truck.

Re: wiper blades & wiper arms

looks to me like someone has used different arms....I think if you remove that screw and get rid of the smaller part you will be able to use a complete blade from the parts store or even walmart......

Re: wiper blades & wiper arms

Are those close up pics of the ones you got from American classic? Those aren't factory style arms, at least to my knowledge. I think if you get a factory style setup, your issues will disappear. Have you contacted Tony about some arms?

Re: wiper blades & wiper arms

The close up pics are the arms that were on the truck when I bought it, in 2003.

The wiper blades in the background in those close up shots are NAPA blades.

The wiper blades in the picture above showing the front of the truck, are the blades I bought from American Classic.

I am being told by some people that these are not OEM chevy wiper arms...

Re: wiper blades & wiper arms

update:

http://picasaweb.google.com/Woogeroo/WiperArms#

photos 6 - 8

My dad went and somehow found a part man who could read a parts book... and that guy found these wiper blades for my current wiper arms.

I have been told that my wiper arms are not OEM pieces to my '65 C10, which has been my problem all this time. I'd like to know what year these arms are from... at any rate, they stayed on in the rain during a rather eventful thunderstorm that passed through the Atlanta, Georgia area last night.

Also... I have now have a nice set of used, OEM style 1964-1966 wiper arms.

Maybe I can keep some blades on in the rain now...

Thanks everyone for the input, advice, messages, etc..

Woog:

Did the factory wiper arms and blade holders that I sent to you work?
