O2 sensor bungs for fuel injection?
I've got rams horn exhaust manifolds and really need a new exhaust system, from manifolds back. Its rusting through in too many places.
If I keep my truck much longer I'm putting in an FI system, sick of cold starts. Can I have the muffler/pipe company weld bungs into the collectors or just down from them? The bungs don't have to be right in the exhaust manifolds do they? Thanks very much.

You are correct, they are not in the manifold. There is a general location where they have to go however. They need to reach a certain operating temperature to function. It should be pretty easy to find that info. It will be something like 12 to 18 inches down the exhaust pipe.

Mine are in the manifolds. I was told to get it as close to the heat as possible, thats why the newer cars have heated ones now. It will run better the closer you get it to the source. Andy

My ACCEL/DFI came with a threaded nut to weld to the header. They recommend welding it on down at the collector. This is assuming a heated O2 sensor...
