Rear View Mirror Blindspot Fix??

Im a fairly tall guy (6' 2") and as you know the cabs on these pickups were not built with taller people in mind. My problem is that at every stop sign i find myself ducking down to look under the rear view mirror on my 71 so i can see what is coming down the street to my right. Has anybody found a fix for this? I thought about fabricating a shorter mirror drop down bracket to raise the mirror closer to the roof. Is there anybody out there who has done this or found another way to get around this problem? Thanks in advance.
