Where to get GM parts numbers??

I was wondering if there is anywhere to get part numbers? So that I can look up prices on gmpartsdirect.com. I bought a console from a 95-98 chevy truck off of ebay. It needed some parts, I paid $36 and some change per part. Total came to $80. I looked up the same parts on gmpartsdirect.com and the parts where $17 something per part. Thats $19 per part less then the dealership. I would have saved $30 once I paid for shipping.

Yesturday when I went to pick up the parts from the dealership I asked the guy if he could give me some part numbers for some seat tracks. He told me that he wont give me the part number cuz I might go somewhere else to buy it. DUH!!!!!!!!!! If you are going to mark your stuff up more the 100% then Im going somewhere else. Now I know the dealerships are always more but geeze are they trying to rape us?

What I would like to know is if there is any way for me/us to get access to the part numbers. I know you can search gmpartsdirect.com for some but it doesnt give them all to you. How do you guys find part numbers. Of course this is for newer truck parts.

www.partszoneonline.com is good about giving part numbers out.

A while back, I put together a list of some of the best online sources for GM parts. gmpartsdirect.com has a nice interface, but their shipping prices can be out there

Watch ebay for microfiche part numbers. They are fairly cheap. May also have to go the CD route if microfiche isn't available. The info can be pretty detailed and helpful.

A factory Parts and Illustration Catalog is the best but it is hard to find them for multiple years. I have access to a 1994 C/K Catalog and it is great for use on my 93 GMC. I did find this site http://www.auto-parts-for-less.com/chevrolet/chevy.htm You can get prices for GM parts but they don't give part numbers. I don't know what prices you have found but they have the inner track for $50.85 and the outer for $63.20.

It was about 70-80 a side from the dealership. What did you search for to come up with those prices?

I just clicked on "order chevy parts" then filled in 1996 Chev/Geo under year/make (collision). Then "C1500" then "seats & tracks" then "tracks&components" then "bucket seats" then "seat track" then "pass side" and it will give you an illustrator and price.

HAHAHA Thats sooooo sick. At first i was trying to search and i was not getting anything back. But how you said to do it shows everything. That soo cool. Now to get the part numbers so that I can be a smart shopper. I just placed a bid on a cd on ebay. Well see how that works out.

Thanks so much
