quick exhaust question
Do you lose any performance by exiting your exhaust all the way out the back as compared to dumping it at the axle or exiting in front of the rear wheels?

The more bends you have and the longer the pipe the more you lose power. You want it to exit out fast but with the least amount of hard bends. But you don't want a short pipe either. Least I would do is dumped under the bed. Plenty of backpressure then and still exiting fast enough.

it would probably be alot easier and and a little cheaper to exit before the axle. I can't wait to get rid of those Purple Hornies. I'm giving them to my friend to put on his '79 K5.

Are resonator tips good or bad? Do they increase noise or decrease it?

They increase as well as make it deeper.

You will love the Aerochambers for sure. Best sounding muffler I've used. I've been though Dynomax Super Turbos, and slowmasters. They don't compare to the Aeros.

Here you can find a dyno run done by V8-Magazine Finland back in '95. Doesn't list many mufflers but i thought it might be an interesting read. You can see the difference between various mufflers is minimal with a slightly tricked 454, so i'd say it will be even less with a 350 or a 305.
Another interesting tidbit about backpressure: compared to straight pipes (minimal backpressure), the best muffler provides an average of 0.7% more torque.
