Finally Time!
well, its been too long since my last post. im happy to say, that ive saved my cash goal for getting my truck restored. now all i have to do, is find a shop somewhere that can do a reasonable restore for a reasonable price.
can anyone make some recommendations for the DFW area? |

$4000, i can see going to 6. i dont yet know what $6000 will get me, i dont expect show quality, but i hope it will at least be as clean looking (from a reasonable distance) as my 2001 is.

Do you have any tools? You could buy $6K worth of parts and have it come out nicer than bringing it to a shop, at a shop a bunch of the $$ is labor. So of $4K at least $1K is labor. Just my own opinion. But it is YOUR money, YOUR truck, YOUR decision.

Re: Finally Time!
yeah, i have plenty of power and air tools, but unfortunately i currently live in an apartment complex where i might not get away with firing them up for all saturday at a time so easily. my garage, is directly under someone's living room. id really like to do it myself, but right now, its just not convenient... and im tired of not driving my truck

Re: Finally Time!
Congrats! You're much better at saving money than me!If you could restor your truck for around $6000,than send me some tips please. In Canada,$6000 would maybe get you rolling chassis w/motor.You guys are lucky.Allthough i am aware of U.S. economy and things are going cheap there,we seem to pay to much for everything.Sticking to the basics though and alot of hard manhours should bring you a long way. But,you'll need a shop.Up here in iceville,a restore shop would take your $6000 and say"ok,we'll start now".If you want good workmanship and good parts, prepair to spend money. But,you'll need a shop.Did i mention you'll need a shop?Anyway,CONGRATS!Have fun with it!1972 chevy 2wd s/b f/s low 370 hp(unfinished)
