Remote lock receiver/module
For those of you who read my thread on my wife's 97 Blazer know that I had a short in the remote lock receiver. I removed it and have had not problem with the battery being drained. However the driver side door will only lock manually, though the switch works to lock the other doors. I would like to have the remote locks working again. My personal GM/Jeep parts salesman looked it up and it was $130 (I think) and I dont have the $$$ for that. My Dad's system said that once it is programmed it is not reprogrammable.
Does this refer to the module communicating with the remotes or the module communicating to the vehicle? I dont think it would need to communicate with the vehicle so if I can get the module with the remotes it should work.....right? He was able to tell me that a module from any 4 door vehicle within the same year range should work. Has anyone ever swapped modules from one model to another? Thanks for the help...

Re: Remote lock receiver/module
At's another good question. Since I have power locks and my son had a Viper alarm system installed to give him remote capabilities AND since the remote lock function no longer works.....I'm curious, too.
Hopefully, Chevy Tech can join in and shed some light on this if he has had an experience on this subject.
