Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
So I have a new chrome bumper for the front, yet installed, and a roll pan for the rear that I will color match to the truck, again...not installed.
Starting to have second thoughts on the rear roll pan and thinking of going with a chrome bumper. I know it is somewhat personal opinion and likeness. Just wondering everyone's thoughts and opinions. Most have prob seen my truck, pics atleast, but here are some recent ones. Thanks

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
I'd go with the bumper. I'm not a big fan of roll pans, but that's just me.

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
Yeah I am leaning toward the bumper now, but always had a roll pan in mind since I got the truck. Especially because it is a long bed I thought it would give it a sleeker look.
Auggghhhrrr.....I cannot decide. Lets see some pics of both guys. lwb's especially. Thanks in advance, you guys rock!

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
I am going to go with the bumper on my truck. I only like the roll pan on the 88 98 trucks

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
There is a pic some where on the site where some one made a front chrome fit snug and close on the rear. This is what I am going to do so I can take up as less overall length and have a clean look. I will also be shaving the bumper bolts.

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
100% Back into something ever so lightly and see what happens to a roll pan...any light touch and you will have your first ouch! By the way...very nice truck!

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
I had been considering a roll pan. I HAD a step bumper on mine. Last spring at the NC "Gathering of the Goofs" I got to see several with chrome bumpers. That sold it for me. Love the clean look.
Regards, Paul

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
I backed into my boat trailer and dented the bumper. It took about 15 min to change when I got the new one. Can't do that with a roll pan.

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
Chevylwb68 if you are going to get a chrome rear bumper get a chrome front or painted to match front bumper. It would look good with your side modlings and trim.
One more detail is I like the pic posted above by haysonj is just a standard type bumper. There is also the step bumper which imo i think is ugly for a 2wd truck. Last edited by green724x4; 04-29-2009 at 12:14 PM. |

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
A chrome bumper would look good since you have the stock trim.

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
I love roll pans. Just not on our trucks (unless it's a step side). They just look like an after thought. Your truck would look much better with a chrome bumper.

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
I would have to install the bumper, I've never need to big on roll pans. However, some trucks can pull it off...

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
I think it all depends on what style of truck you are going after... I think on your truck a chrome bumper would look sweet!! on a real low truck with some big wheels and shaved marker lights/gas tank definitely a roll pan....
You had it from the begging its all about personal preferences...... That's my .02 cents |

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
I would def. go with the bumper on your truck, to much chrome to not 'complete' the look all the way around. just my 0.02.

Re: Rear roll pan or chrome bumper
with your side trim, beauty rings on the wheels and center caps, a chrome rear bumper would tie it all together. Nice truck - now get a chrome bumper on there!
