Yet another rocker panel repair question and help needed...
1970 Chevy Blazer
I am going to have to have a body shop do this for me because I am on disablility right now and limited to what I can do. I know I will need the outer rocker panel, but what else would probably be needed to repair my passenger side? I would like to order some of the pieces now if possible. On my drivers's side (no pics), the rocker panel is solid with no rust, the only thing that is rusted and missing some is the trim edge that the weatherstripping and door sill trim mount. Similiar to the bottom edge/door sill area in the pics of the passenger side, just not rusted in all the other areas. It's just along the sill and has rusted and broke off some. Is there anyway to repair just that part without replacing the entire rocker panel? Thanks for any help or suggestions you can offer on this. |

You might need the inner rocker panel for the passenger side as well, hard to tell from the pics. If the rust isn't too bad on the driver side, it's possible to weld in some new metal for the weather strip, I did this on my truck

At the very least both rockers need replacing. If you try to patch them up, the rust will return quickly. $19.95 each is pretty cheap insurance. It looks like the back plates need replacing also, the pits are pretty deep and it's been my experience that once you clean that up, you will have holes. I can't see the kicks or what the floors look like next to them, but I would also be concerned about thos also. From what I can see in the pictures provided, 2 rockers and 2 back plates. WES

Always be aware that there is usually more rust than you can see.It hides under the edges of the paint and anywhere else irt can get to.

Do I need this as well on my passenger side and skip the backing plate for that side? I appreciate your help on this. |

If it were me, I would use a floor extention to repair what I see. If you do that you do not need the back plate. The floor extention is a far better piece to use, because the backing plates are universal and wont cover any floor rust. WES
