High or lo hump
Hello All,
I want to buy carpet for the 69 GMC, but when I checked on it, they wanted to know if I have a high or low hump. How would I know? It is a 396 BB with 400 turbo trans automatic Thanks all in advance, Rick |

Re: High or lo hump
I believe that the high hump is for a manual trans with floor shift. My auto has a low one.

Re: High or lo hump
if it is an original big block/auto, then it is a high hump.
Pull back the carpet, and see if the hump is bolted in. If so, it's a high hump. If it is part of the stamped floor, it's a low hump. |

Re: High or lo hump
I tried to order carpet today for my 71 Burban and ACC asked me if I had a 350 or a 400 tranny, but it came to me with a 350CI and a 700R4 tranny, so how do I know? It is a 3/4 ton 8 lug. The glove box says "M-49 TURBO HYDRO-MATIC" So which one do I order? Please help as they want take it back if I order the wrong one. Thanks Rob

Re: High or lo hump
they are retarded. TH350 and TH400 wouldn't make a difference on the floor.
if it is an original big block/auto, then it is a high hump. If it is an original 4 speed, it's a high hump. If it is an original 4X4, it's a high hump. All others SHOULD be low hump. Some odd ball trucks have made it off the assembly line with wrong humps. Pull back the carpet, and see if the hump is bolted in. If so, it's a high hump. If it is part of the stamped floor, it's a low hump. |

As Andy said the best way to be certain is to pull the carpet back and you'll know for a fact which one you have regardless of what your truck had or has now for a powertrain.

Re: High or lo hump
ACC isn't a very good carpet kit to buy either. I've had mine in for a little over a year... to include a few months of the suburban being parked in a dark garage... and the carpet is already faded a little.
