What parts to use off 79

Howdy, newbe here with a 72 blazer 4wd project. Gonna be a father/sons build. Right now all I really have is a rolling 72 chassis and body with a lift and new 38.5's on it. I have just bought a 79 4wd blazer with a GM 350 crate motor that has around 10,000 miles on it. What parts can I use off the 79 other than motor, tranny, t-case? Was wanting to use the axles as well instead of redoing the brakes/bearings on the 72 ones. How bout the radiator? Brake booster, stearing column.....ect..

I have built a motorcycle before but never a truck so I appologize in advance for all the stupid questions I'm gonna ask.

Re: What parts to use off 79

Only the question not asked is the stupid one

GM parts are very interchangable. The front axel will swap but the rear may have diferent locations for the springs. I can't remember if they are the same in newer K5s or what..The rad may fit...measure it up
Realy you can modify and change just about everything and make it work...

Re: What parts to use off 79

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to pick up the 79 this weekend. Once I get the body off the frame I think I'm going to do a test fit with the 72 body. I'm a lot better welder than a mechanic. Might be easier for someone like me to move the body mounts than start swappin' the drivetrain. Might have to do some creative fabbing to get my lift springs from the 72 to the 79 as well. Any idea what the stock spring width is on the 79? I have an extra set of lift springs that came with the 72 but they are longer than 52 inches. 55 I think. The springs and the body lift should give me around 9 inches of lift. I know the axles won't hold up to any abuse with the 38's but this will get it driving for a while to make my boys happy while I save and look for some 1 ton axles.
