Parking brake cable trailing arm bracket
Well I have the rear of my truck complete stripped to the framerails In doing so I noticed that the clamp holding the parking brake cables to the trailing arms wasn't "stock" It is one of those fold over clamps with a bolt hole and a tab to stick in a second hold to prevent it from turning as you tightnen it down. However, there is no second hole in the trailing arm so someone just put an extra washer underneath to get it seat right. I know my explanation is kinda crappy but could anyone tell me how this is supposed to look originally? Thanks!!

Re: Parking brake cable trailing arm bracket
Ok here is a picture of what mine looked like. Now if you look at the red arrow it points to a tab which in my opinion should have slipped into a hole in the trailing arm but instead it had a little backing plate (green arrow) behind it which wasn't thick enough so the whole thing said crooked. Just doesn't look factory. Is this how yours is? btw most new cables dont come with that rubber boot, I have an lmc one which has a yucky purple boot, but I found stock ones at jim carter, I should have them soon

Re: Parking brake cable trailing arm bracket
yes mine is the exact same way. the way factory did things sometimes makes me wonder, but they were meant for work not to be show quality i quess.

Re: Parking brake cable trailing arm bracket
that bend on the red arrow is supposed to go over the end of the square washer thing and keep it from moving but it appears to be a poor design.

Re: Parking brake cable trailing arm bracket
Thanks again!! That really really helps! Now on to modding. I am thinking about drillilng a hole in the arm for the little tab or making a spacer block so it seats better flush. Btw yours has that little tab as well?

Re: Parking brake cable trailing arm bracket
yeah but that square washer doesnt seem to be long enough to keep it from moving side to side. just a chevy design

Re: Parking brake cable trailing arm bracket
I noticed that too! I like the bracket design on the later models better with the clip. I was never a big fan of friction clamping lol

Re: Parking brake cable trailing arm bracket
Here are my first pictures of my "build" lol. I have all the parts from the rear either replaced or acid stripped and painted now, all that is left is to do the frame and then put it all back together Well short of the actual bed really, I am just talking drivetrain and suspension lol. As you can see I am little short on room in my garage, with the bed on it wont even fit :p
