Newby: Power steering mount

Hi I'm new to this forum and I have a 65 GMC custom fleetside. And I am looking into installing power steering in the truck. The problem is it has a inline 6 and they make allot of kits for V8's but they all say V8 only. I got to thinking what's the diffirence but just the way the pump mounts to the block? All the rest of it should be the same. Anyone with an idea of where to get a pump mount or if possible find someone to CAD one up and weld it together? Thanks for any info. Vernski

They actually did make a bracket for a PS pump on a L6 but they are extremely rare, I saw a van once on a pull it yard and the only thing that was taken was the bracket, the pump was still there. I have some pictures of the bracket somewhere, I will see if I can find them.

Re: Newby: Power steering mount

Here is a picture of it. It mounts on the driver's side where the alternator is which is moved over. If you have the assembly manual you can see the configuration.

Hope this helps. Btw they show up on feebay from time to time but are pretty pricey. The one's from a passenger car L6 will fit as well.

Re: Newby: Power steering mount

Thanks 64C10 for the pics and the ebay tip I will watch that action, yeah a little pricey but that's the way things go these days depending on what a guy wants to do to his truck though I wish it was cheaper as I'm on disability so my budget is not on the high end of the scale.

Re: Newby: Power steering mount

If they go for $99 and they are in good shape in other words no refinishing needed, then that is not a bad price.

Re: Newby: Power steering mount

I could fab a power steering pump mount (done them before) but it would be a bit more than $99 to do so.
