loading a chassis to trailor

i am not sure if this is the right place to ask this but its worth a try i guess, lol. I am to the point of loading the chassis to get it sand blasted. We took off the brakes and hubs so we can't put the tires on it to move it. What is the best way of loading this up on the trailor. It has both axles so it not the lightest... any ideas would be alsome!!!

1. Put the wheels back on, use a come along to pull it on a trailer or just push it on if you have the muscle, and then take the wheels off when you get to the sand blasters. If it dosent have wheels how will you get it off at the sand blasters?

2. One cherry picker per axle on oposing sides, jack it up, back a trailer under it. Pack the two cherry pickers in the back of your truck and reverse the process at the blasters shop.

3. Have the blaster come to you. Most big blasting places have a small portable blasting machine.

No sweat man. I had mine blasted with the wheels on now I have to get it redone when I strip it down.

I just got back from putting the tires on the front and back axles. What i am gonna do is use a come along or push it.. it all depends and when i get it to the sand blaster take the tires back off. thanks for the advice

Hah! I once loaded a parts truck with no front crossmember. It was basically the frame, rear axle, cab, and bed. I just jacked the front up as far as I could and backed the trailer underneath the front of the frame then used a winch the rest of the way. The only problem came when the middle crossmember got stuck on the back of the trailer. That was a pain.

If you don't have brakes on the spindles you can take whee/tire and hub off in one piece on the front when you get to the sandblaster. Just make sure that they don't blast the bearing surface on the spindle.

why not just remove the axels and strip the frame?//thats the way i've always done frames for blasting and paint/powder

If all you are looking for is to strip the paint and surface rust try soda blasting. They use baking soda to blast the paint off. If does not hurt wiring or glass. Leaves the surface smooth. The only thing is it does not take off hard rust only surface.

cdowns is right. im in the process of doing mine now. having everthing in pieces makes painting alot easier and all the little hidden spots can be reached. just my .02 cents worth
