Can I wire my front markers to blink and run?
The PO of my truck wired the front marker lights into the blinkers aparently. With the way the turn signals are set up on these trucks thats accually not a bad idea. Catch is they dont come on with the marker lights. I love the way they look with all 4 markers on. Is there a way to wire them so they work as running lights and then blink with the turn signals as well?

Re: Can I wire my front markers to blink and run?
What I recall seeing are side marker lights that blink opposite to the turn signal, like first the turn signal, then the side marker.
However, to do what I think you want, you'd need a bulb with two filaments; one for the turn signal function and the other for the marker. I don't know of any bulbs of the type that fit into the housing that have enough room for two filaments. Maybe someone else can help.

I've made a diagram of how you probaly make it work by adding a Botch Relay, and some additional wiring. Hope this helps.

Yes if someone chimes in with a wiring diagram and you wire it up correctly the fronts will flash when your turn. The rears are not suppose to flash. It sounds like someone wired it wrong.
You need an oem wiring diagram

Move the wire from the bulb that is presently grounded to the body to the wire that is hot when your running lights are on. The light will work as you want but as stated above, will flash opposite of the turn lights. The single filiment bulb is all you need. Sounds crazy without a wire going to ground but the bulb will ground back through the circuit that is off.

Re: Can I wire my front markers to blink and run?
Joeys Toy is 100% right. No relay, no daul filament lamps... none of that.
68 - 72 trucks had the front side markers wired 2 ways. i have found no reason why they were done like this, but I have found it to be fact. one way, the front side markers are steady burning with the parking lights. my 70 one ton is like that. The otherway, the side marker will blink WITh the turn signals with the parking lights off, then they will blink in oposition of the turn signals when the parking light is on. Again, lke Joey said, one wire from the marker will go to the parking light wire, and the other side marker light wire goes to the turn signal wire. This is how the factory did it when the factory markers blink. No relays, no fancy lamps, just simple wiring |

Re: Can I wire my front markers to blink and run?
I agree as well. My 68 didn't have marker lights for some reason, no place for them either, just lenses. So I went to the auto parts store, bought two 194 bulbs, and two 194 sockets that fit the marker lights, wired one wire into the parking light side of the front turn signal, and the other wire into the turn signal side. Worked like a charm.

Re: Can I wire my front markers to blink and run?
I failed to put the disclaimer on that post... 68 & 69 trucks had no lights unless they were specificly ordered. The only exception was if you got a cab/chassis with the daul rear wheel option. Then you were required to get (at added cost) the side markers, and the roof mounted clearance/ID lights.
