2000 silverado 5.3 starting problem!
my 5.3 has had starting problems for about 20k-30k miles and its getting real old! we have tried relays new fuel pump and fuel filter. I think it is the coils but i want to be sure. What happens is i can turn and hold it for as long as i want and she wont fire, then when i try it a second time she fires up right away. this has been getting worse as the weather heats up. it is starting to take 3 times now! has anyone had this problem or know the solution?

Re: 2000 silverado 5.3 starting problem!
fuel pressure regulator can cause this symptom. it's on the driver's side fuel rail and can be easily replaced for about $60...but to be sure you should have it checked out. One way to check is by pulling the vacuum hose off of it, if fuel comes out then the internal diaphram is ruptured and it's bad.
