I'm sorry...

yep.

went to the junkyard yesterday, half of which was flooded by about two feet of water. of course the yard guys moved the only 67-72 to a storage area, and stacked a toyota on it. I had to climb over about ninety cars and tons of junk to even see the truck. getting to it was an entirely different story... I had to use some bar ( sticking THROUGH the hood of some car) to swing myself over to a an old mazda truck in which I found a spare tire to throw into the muddy water, so I could leap across the crap to something like an inner firewall cover, from which I could pry open the door to this old 72. I climbed in, armed only with a phillips screwdriver (forgot everything else, but did you know that you can use the 'U' in the word 'custom' from the badging as a small wrench to remove the oil pressure gauge cable?) weird huh? anyway, I got a gauge cluster and bezel, glove box door, heater control, ash tray, trim, steering column parts, some knobs, interior screws, and general blah-easy junk in good shape.

on my way out of the truck, I slipped on the spare tire boat, and dropped EVERYTHING in the two feet of muddy water. most of it is gone forever. maybe I should make a buried treasure map...

I'm sorry for losing 30+ year parts that were in great shape. I did come home with the heater control (broke a knob in the fall...) GB door, and cluster, all of which are in much better shape than my orignal ones, for.... $20 and some muddy pants shoes socks shorts shirt hair arms and wallet. wheeeeeeee.
