Nice radio. It's about time someone started making something to fit these trucks.

Re: New Radio in Jegs with 67-72 Face Plate
no, but it looks really similar to the custom audio one which every seems to agree is pretty bad for sound, and a similar price of $450 for a radio and cd changer!

Re: New Radio in Jegs with 67-72 Face Plate
ok you're right it does look different and the usb port on the face is really cool actually, if it works as easy as they say it does.
They say it'll work with any sanyo compatible cd changer, and it seems sanyo doesn't make them anymore, does anyone know which brands are Sanyo compatible? Kinda makes me nervous about quality because Sanyo is Chinese and not too good compared to Alpine, Pioneer, JBL... right? Last edited by imillionmax; 09-18-2008 at 02:26 PM. |

Re: New Radio in Jegs with 67-72 Face Plate
went ahead and got the radio, with the new chrome knobs so it should look good, and I'll let you all know how it sounds. I also found a new $50 cd changer that works with it so we will see.

Re: New Radio in Jegs with 67-72 Face Plate
let us know how it sounds. as i have been looking at the custom autosound radio for my '72, but if it has a horrible sound quality, i don't want to buy it. if this one you just bought sounds good, and lasts for awhile i'll look into getting one. who is the manufacturer?

Re: New Radio in Jegs with 67-72 Face Plate
It works great, I like that the two knobs control everything, and it runs the CD changer great. The sound quality is good enough with the quality amp and speakers. It enhances the look of the truck and no holes cut!

Re: New Radio in Jegs with 67-72 Face Plate
looks like it, the retro sound USA version can actually slide in from the front because the shafts are separate and bolted on after they are positioned

Re: New Radio in Jegs with 67-72 Face Plate
I've been looking at this for the past week or so. If you do a search on google for: retrosound "model one" forum
there are quite a few good reviews. I'm planning on picking one up and running through an amp with either Alpine or Infinity speakers. I really didn't want to cut my dash. I like the user interface on this as well. Easy to see/push buttons. The USB is perfect, as I'd rather have that than a CD. All my music is in MP3 now, so putting it on a flash drive is great!

Re: New Radio in Jegs with 67-72 Face Plate
Outlaw, thanks, I appreciate that.
I ordered and received my Retrosound last week. However, I'm a few weeks away (at least) from installing this. Doing a frame off right now, and we're finishing the body work on the cab and doors, then will paint. Once that's done, we'll set the cab on the frame and start adding the interior. This will please the wife greatly, as our dining room table and the area next to it is filled with boxes...new carpet, stereo, cab trim, new dash, dash trim and tons of other stuff. I'll write a review of the product once we get it installed. I plan to add an amp, one sub, 2 6x9s and 2 6.5 speakers. I am not an "audiophile," per se. I do, very much, appreciate good clean music. Our home unit is a Denon receiver and Orb audio surround sound. Normally I'm an Alpine guy for decks, but wanted to give this one a shot to avoid cutting the dash on my 78.

Re: New Radio in Jegs with 67-72 Face Plate
I have one in, as my previous thread says - it sounds pretty good and it's been in my truck for 2-3 months now, I just wish I could get the flash drive to work while the motor was running. Otherwise, I really like the music. Ironically, I ditched the kickpanel speakers because they sounded like crap and cut the doors - sounds a lot better, and I don't mind the cut doors.
