2001 4x4 -Time for new shocks - what are you using ?

2001 GMC 1500 ext cab. 100,000 miles. Time for new shocks, have one leaking. I am looking at the Monroe shocks, Delcos seem pretty expensive. Looks like I have several choices, Monroe-Matic, Sensa-Track and Reflex.

Cost diffenece does not bother me to much nor does shock life. I have some lower back troubles and and looking for the smoothest riding shock, never tow or haul anything. Tires are the stock type (not LT type) P265/70 R17 on factory alloy wheels.

Would the basic Monroe-Matic be the best ride or what would you suggest ? Thanks

I am using the Monroe Reflex on my 98. They made the ride stiffer and took some roll out in turns. I think they are more truck based shocks.

I put new bilsteins on my truck, firm but comfortable. May be too firm for what you're looking for though.

Re: 2001 4x4 -Time for new shocks - what are you using ?

Going to try the Sensatrac on the truck. Noticed that there were not to many Reflex shocks made for cars. The Reflex looks like a perfect shock if the truck is used as a truck much, but I think I'll get a little better ride with the Sensatrac. I'll give the Sensatracs a try, and try to post back with the results.
