Frame rust
This is what's going on with my frame at the rear spring plates. What should I do about it?

Re: Frame rust
I actually just finished rebuilding the brakes. If you're talking about how the drum is shiny, that's the paint I put on it.
Yes, I think for my next truck I'll ship one in from Arizona. Rust sucks.

Re: Frame rust
Come on. Anybody?
I looked at Tdave00's frame today and it looks so nice compared to this. No rust issues there at all. I'm thinking at this point I'll probably have to remove that middle crossmember and the spring plates and clean all that up. I don't know how I'll bend the frame back where it is bent. That extra leaf spring frame I have is really starting to look good right now.

Re: Frame rust
hade the same problem on a spare frame. like suggested media blast or sand blast this will be the decision maker on fixing or using the other frame you have. in my case i used my spare, best of luck

Re: Frame rust
I suggest taking it all apart and cleaning up the rust.
A BFH should straighten the rails and brackets, use weld thru primer (zinc) on the mating surfaces, and bolt 'er back together. Good luck.

Re: Frame rust
that frame has an expiration date unless you take care of that rust soon. I doubt your truck has been in that area its whole life... thats the crap we see up here in the rust belt.
