custom air breather.....
i think ive seen somebody do this on here before...
has anybody taken there stock air box breather thing (i have an extra so its ok) cut the snorkel, and the sides off and just leave the top and bottom....smooth the edges repaint and have like an aftermarket air filter kinda thing..im bout to try it soon as im done eatin chicken...so holler real fast if its a big no no lol thanks! i'll have pix when im thru

It should work, as long as what you're cutting out doesn't make it fall apart.
In terms of the carb, remember that the adjustment screws are only adjusting the idle mixture. However, I haven't found that opening up the air cleaner caused a problem in the higher RPM's. In other words, yeah, just adjust the idle jets and you should be good. Best way to adjust the idle jets: Adjust the left one to the highest RPM you can get. Then do the same with the other one. Then reset your idle to where it should be. Repeat one more time... THEN, take the idle jets and turn them in 1/4 - 1/2 turn. |

Look at it this way, your extra air cleaner will sell for about 40 bucks on the parts board. Then, you can order a nice chrome one from Summit for under 20 dollars.

wouldve been a good idea but it had a couple dents in it lol, i guess i could've bondo's it or something.......and it was just a 'im so bored whats somethign i can cutup and see if it works' thing lol....goin back outside it only sprinkeled and we gotta dark sky..
