Question Dumb drop shock question

I think I know the answer to this but want confirmation before ordering parts.

I'm running 2.5" drop spindles and 1" drop springs up front on my '72 SWB. When ordering a shock based on the amount dropped, is it based on just the spring drop or including the spindle drop as well? I know I could measure, etc. but I'm nowhere near having a full load on the front suspension and don't know exactly where it will all settle out and don't have any way to get full compression on the front right now. Plus I'm just curious.

Thanks,
Brent

Re: Dumb drop shock question

Just the springs. IMO, unless the shocks are shot or you just want to upgrade, I'd use whatever you have. 1'' is really nothing to worry about.

Re: Dumb drop shock question

Thanks! That's what I thought but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. What I have is absolutely nothing. Everything old is long gone and it was down to the barest of frames at one point. Rebuilding slowly and learning as I go along.
