difference in the Front End on 4x4 3/4 ton trucks

I was wondering if the Dana 44 that came under a half ton truck is the same as the one that came under a 3/4 ton truck!

Same except for the 8 lug stuff. You could remove all of the outer stuff and swap it out to 6 lug or the other way around.

ive got one in my cherokee and i think all i found to be diff. was the 8 lug hub and the caliper backin plate..used same spindle and caliper!! just my 2 cents

I guess I should add...there may be minor differences from year to year (my orange 72 has a stabilizer bracket, my ochre one doesn't etc.) but in my mind they are the same 1/2 or 3/4. I'm used to having to modify or fabricate every day so things like that don't make em different, if that makes any sense.

I don't know if this is true or not but just the other day I had a guy tell me that not only are they the same but you can bolt the 1/2 ton caliper on the 3/4 ton. He did that once for a wheel clearance issue.

Again - I don't know if that is true or not.
