Help on centerlinks!!!!

I am putting the front end back together. I am changing over from 67 to 72. I thought I read that all these centerlinks were the same, however my 72 inner tie rods have a larger shaft than the 67 centerlink. Do I have to ream it out or go with a 72 or??????

NOOO do not ream the 67 centerlink. The taper on the 67-70 (with drum brakes) is different than the 71-72 (with disk brakes). I changed over to disks on my 69' and went our local wreck yard and paid $10.00 for a 72' centerlink. As far as front end parts, I changed the inner/outer tie rods and sleeves and the Ball joints must be changed. Good Luck with the swap.

If you have 72 spindles a tierods I would get a 71-72 centerlink. Classis performance parts does have an adapter sleeve to hook the small and large tierods together to use with older centerlink.

hey Harry.....Is that it, iam ready to do the swap, change the ball joints to 71-72, outer and inner tie rods and sleeves from 71-72, centerlink.... this will do it? what about pitman, and idler arm?? thanks for your help LOU.....

Hey SIXT8LOU, pitman and idle arms are the same. It's a pretty simple swap. I just changed the front end parts that go with the 71-72 disk brakes. There is a conversion sleeve so you can interchange the tie rods between years from CPP but I wanted all new Moog parts. I picked them up from Advanced Auto. Other change obviously is the M/C, Proportional Valve and Brake Lines. I also swapped out my Rubber Brake Lines to Steal Braided Lines. BTW, my truck is running for testing purposes BUT it is not a driver, parts have been replaced as time goes on. Good Luck.
