OUCH! I need a new seat!
My bench seat is killing me!
Will a later model bench seat fit my 70 GMC? What about car seats. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I was once told that a 73-87 bench will bolt to a 67-72 seat track. But I have never have had a change to try it. . . . .

I put a '94 Silverado bench with arm rest in my '68. I had to drill 4 holes in the flat surface inboard of the original track mounts and plug the old bolt holes (you could just put the bolts back in). No more back ache. I also saw a 71 with Taurus buckets! Good luck.

I put buckets from a 91 Lumina APV in my truck. Worn out seats are a bear.....talk about ouch....my 67 cutlass has springs sticking out and has torn the butt in a few pairs of my jeans.

I put in the second-row-bench from a 1999 Suburban (1995-1999 are identical) into my '70, and I LOVE it. They're a lot cheaper due to lower demand compared to the front seats (mine was $150 at a local yard; I think most fronts from the same years cost $300 or more) and if you're tall (6'4", probably closer to 6'5" these days!) you don't need the adjustability (which it does not have).
It does also let you flip the seats forward, which makes getting at the storage underneath them (and, should you put anything behind them, that too) MUCH easier.

I agree with the others, I bought a full bench out of a Ford looks great and sits real good for $ 50.00. Look around their out there.

I've been searching for a comfortable front seat setup (or buckets) for the Burb and stumbled on a 99 Plymouth (Neon) "Expresso" in the junk yard with very low mileage. It had two cloth covered buckets that were near new and I discovered that the front driver seat not only moved forward and backward, the seat back reclined BUT the entire driver seat could be RAISED AND LOWERED up to 6" with a small crank gizmo on the driver left side....after a really cheapo buy, I installed them in the Burb and built a center console. Comfortable as all getout and installation was easy..only needed a 2" rise on the rear mounts (I used a 2' square piece of aluminum stock)......both sides have a built-in headrest....just a thought.
