Teardown Progress Pics
Here are a few updated pics of my latest 71 K20 Cheyenne project. It is getting a complete frame off restoration along with a rust free body swap. Body and bed are just setting on there now.

I'm actually not using any of the body pieces you see. I'm swapping over a completely rust free body from another truck. I have a 71 C20 with only 30,000 miles on it that is going on the K20.

what do you plan on doing with the old cab??? looks like it might be worth fixing unless the bottom side is rusted out. post more pics, also would like to see pics of the 30,000 mile body.

Is that a long bed, and do you plan on staying with it?

Where did you find a 71 c20 with 30k miles? That was a real find. Good luck with your project. Just remember to double the time you think it will take!

The old bed and cab are actually already sold to a board member. I found the 30K mile 71C20 in a garage. The original owner had passed away years ago. It had the typical old gas problems, but other than that it was perfect. It even has the original shocks. I will be getting rid of this C20 chassis in the future if there is any interest. I'm keeping the rearend, but the rest of it is going. I'll take some pics of it when I get a chance. It is already apart also.
I've already done several of these K20 body swap restorations so I know what you are saying about taking more time than you planned.....lol You always wind up doing more than you planned. I even had the frame dipped on the last one. And yes that is one of my "beloved" dead ZZ engines sitting in that truck. It had less than 5K on it when it died. I'm going to pull it apart when I get the body off. I think it broke a piston. |
