Re: My 69 lonbed

i decided to go this route with my frame to match the angles of my fish plate.
when i boxed my frame i kinda screwed up and made the box plate go to a point in the middle of the 2x5 tubing shown in the bottom of the first picture. i made one of the inside frame box plates match the fish plate angle today but didn't finish it. more to come

Re: My 69 lonbed

well got an early start this morning and it somewhat paid off. got the pass side of the frame painted black and continued with my 50 degree angle box plating(see pictures above). a little more cleaning up and the whole frame should be in paint and 90% done. Also went to harbor freight tools to buy 5" casters to roll the frame around on, to my surprise PARKING LOT SALE! my casters were half off at 4 bucks each! pictures to follow hopefully tommorrow

Re: My 69 lonbed

went to the pomona classic auto parts swapmeet and scored this tilt column shift for 80 bucks. came out of a 75 chevy van. should work very close to my stock one.

comparison side by side. the steering shaft in the van column is about an inch longer but the body of both columns are identical

Re: My 69 lonbed

been a while since i've been on here. its kinda hard to get motivated when people don't comment on little updates, but, you see the threads that take off and everyone comments. thats kinda why i've been gone for a while. well as far as updates go, i mocked up the bed sides and started doing body work. the doors are aligned and the hood is on. i had the core support on but took it off because the cancer on it took away from the beauty of all that primer ha ha. i scored on some complete 9" rear ends for 25 bucks apiece! one was a straight 9" the other was a 9 and 3/8s. the 9 has 28 spline the other had 31. i cut all the brackets off and dropped the 9 inch housing and the 31 spline axles off at currie today to be shortened down to 55" total legth. that'll give me 8" from flange to bedside inner! looks like im running 12" rims! also bought 20' of 1 3/4" .120 wall DOM today, which will be my rear suspension links.
I'll try to make it on here att least once a week. thanks old faithfuls!
