Check out this scrap/recycle yard 68!

This poor old 68 was purchased solely for the 396/Th400 combo, and was then dumped off at at this recycle yard to be crushed. This goes to prove that age old saying that one mans junk is anoth...

Thumbs up Re: Check out this scrap/recycle yard 68!

Did you climb in there to rescue those parts ? I cannot understand why someone would throw away a truck like that. Thanks for the pictures. James.

Absolutely heart breaking. I need 3 point seat belts and those grill moldings, too. I guess not everyone can be saved.

Re: Check out this scrap/recycle yard 68!

What a shame! Looked like it was in pretty decent shape before bieng thrown into a car pile. At least you were able to save some cool parts off of it (Especially the seats) and its old ID plate.

I bet a camaro or chevelle guy picked it up so he could have a big block for his muscle car. He propably thought it was just a truck and that besides the engine nothing could be of value off of it. If not and it was a fellow truck guy then he is a dumb a** for throwing away such nice parts and sheetmetal.

Re: Check out this scrap/recycle yard 68!

I'm a Camaro guy (and truck guy) and my Camaro has a 396 big block from a full size Chevy that probably went to the wrecker. I would never scrap a truck as nice as this one, though, just for the engine. Ironically, my 68 C10 came with a 396 from the factory but the PO swapped in a small block. Wish it still had that 396 in it. Maybe someday I can bring it back to its big block glory.

Re: Check out this scrap/recycle yard 68!

I bet there is more rust in the cowl of my truck than in all of the trucks in that pile combined.

Sometimes I think it would be cool to live outside the rust belt, but I think I would end up in a straightjacket having to deal with that kind of stupid

Thats the worst part about it, it was mostly rust free and all of the body damage looked to have came from the scrap yard. There was a bill of sale with the paper work on the truck, and I would have liked to have been the lucky guy that pulled it out of some old mans/widows back yard for $250... complete, I would'nt have parted this one.
